My husband and I are taking a 5 day cruise to the Galapagos. Well, actually, we’re flying into Quito, and then going to some of the islands via yacht. We’re trying to figure out an itinerary and so I need advice on which islands are a must see.

Anyone been there that can advise me on which islands are the best?

Thank you!
Thanks, Mr D, that was incredibly helpful.
Yes, it may indeed be Guayaquil!

tomorrow we are traveling to quito, ecuador, then on sunday to the galapagos for a 7 day cruise. we are going to be outside a lot and were wondering how tan or sunburnt are we going to get? like even if we wear SPF 50, will it come off and we get tan atleast a little bit? because i really want to get some sun, and i know there will be alot of it cuz we’ll be right on the equator, but has anyone experienced this?

The moment you step foot on your first island here you’ll see that freedom and fearlessness are a way of life. Whether strolling the islands’ pristine beaches, searching for the spectacular waved albatross, having a “chat” with a particularly friendly sea lion, or snorkeling with Galápagos penguins, a glorious feeling of uninhibitedness abounds. Our fleet of nimble Zodiacs allow us to nose into landfalls and cruise along reefs, which afford us intimate views of “the action.” Our kayaks let you see the islands at “elbow height.” Our expert Naturalists are always there to point out particularly unusual wildlife behaviors and characteristics so that you may observe, inquire and react as it unfolds before your eyes. Their specialized knowledge and interests — marine biology, zoology, botany, and geology — will transform your adventure into a biology class in real-time. Here in Darwin’s natural laboratory, the animal world is your oyster. www.expeditions.com

I have been thinking about visiting there for years. I was looking at cruises today, and wondered if anyone has ever been on a tour of the Galapagos. Would it be better to get a cruise and see all the islands, or to just stay on one island and take day trips to some of the close islands? And while I’m there, is there anything in Ecuador that I shouldn’t miss?

I’m considering taking my family, including a preteen boy, to the Galapagos Islands for a cruise where we hike on the islands every day and eat and sleep on the boat at night. Are the Galapagos – or cruises there – kid-friendly?
